ABOUT ME

L.M. Davenport (she/her) is a small houseplant we found under the porch of indie-rock frontman Colin Meloy. Having apparently achieved sentience and an interest in speculative fiction, she decamped to the University of Cincinnati’s PhD program, where she writes retellings (frequently sapphic) of Child ballads, proto-feminist proto-novels, and Arthurian lore, plus stories about ghosts, space, and ghosts in space. She is currently seeking representation for her linked story collection, “The Empty Castle.”

Davenport was also the fiction editor at the Black Warrior Review for vol. 46, and a longtime editorial intern at the University of Alabama Press; she is currently a reader for the Cincinnati Review, and teaches manuscript editing for the University of Chicago’s Professional Education arm. She has a B.A. in English from the University of the South, an MFA from the University of Alabama, and not enough Ursula K. Le Guin books. Her work has appeared in journals including Denver Quarterly, Quarterly West, Lady Churchill’s Rosebud Wristlet, and elsewhere. She lives in Cincinnati with her wife and their numerous cats.
